This course is for both leisure and professional boaters wanting to undertake more adventurous trips. The RYA Powerboat Advanced course includes: navigation by day and night, understanding weather systems and other aspects of skippering a small or open boat on more challenging passages in coastal waters.
RYA Powerboat Advanced Training Courses In Southampton
Our Southampton sea school is based in Ocean Village marina where the bulk of our fleet is moored. We run the RYA advanced powerboat course on our Redbay Stormforce 8.4m rib boat powered by a 300hp Suzuki outboard engine. She is MCA coded for day and night use up to 20 miles offshore for a maximum of 12 people, so more than suitable for the maximum student group size of 3.
Lymington RYA Advanced Powerboat Training Courses
The Lymington Town School of Sail & Power ( LTSSP ) is the premier RYA training centre in Lymington and the big brother of our Southampton school. The western Solent is an excellent area to undertake the RYA powerboat advanced training course due to lack of background light. Navigation at night is extremely rewarding and the skills you gain on this course will stay with you for all your boating life.
RYA Powerboat Advanced Course Complete Package
Anybody undertaking this course must have the practical skills of the Intermediate course and knowledge of navigation to at least the Day Skipper shore based course.
Students taking the Advanced course must hold a VHF/SRC operators certificate and first aid certificate. Acceptable cetificates include the RYA's First Aid Certificate, First Aid at Work, First Aid at Sea or any othercertificate issued on the completion of a course whish is a minimum of one day's duration, recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and includes the treatment of hypothermia, cold shock and drowning.
