Solent Boat Mileage & Experience Building

Many of our sea school students that have just enjoyed a successful powerboat level 2 course with us ask what their next boating step should be. The easy answer would be an RYA powerboat intermediate course for those with access to a boat and are able to get a few hours at sea before taking the course. But this requires access to a boat and a usually a friend with some experience them self.

In order to fill this gap we now offer our Solent Boat Mileage & Experience Building days which have a low student to instructor ratio, so lots of time on the helm, navigating and passage planning. These courses are not RYA courses, but run in accordance with RYA standards and run by RYA instructors with the intention of progressing you towards your next RYA qualification.

We run day and night versions of this Solent mileage builder. The day course being run on either of our Ribcraft rib boats and the nighttime version on our larger 8.4m Redbay rib. All our boats are MCA cat 3R commercially coded boats with RYA advanced powerboat commercial skippers with a minimum of a RYA powerboat instructor qualification.

Daylight Solent Mileage & Experience Building

1 Day Course - 9am - 5p. This course is run in either of our 5.35m or 5.85m Ribcraft boats.

An early start allows us an hour or so passage planning and pilotage in our classroom at our Ocean Village marina base. Then to sea, you will then experience :-

Southampton Water & VTS Communications.

River Hamble.

Portsmouth & Gunwharf Quay Approach.

Historic Forts

Osbourne Bay

Cowes

Beaulieu River

Calshot Spit

Debrief ashore

Student/Instructor/Boat Ratio 3:1:1

Nightime Solent Mileage & Experience Building

1 Day Course - 2pm - 10pm. This course is run in our 8.4m Redbay boat.
