Sea Safety First

Lifejackets

We run all our yachts strictly by the codes set out by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency ( MCA ).

Similar to your cars yearly MOT ours yachts are inspected. The MCA  & NFDC inspectors check every area of the yachts & ribs seaworthiness. Our boats even have to come out of the water for a detailed inspection of their hull. The inspection then checks the equipment carried by the yacht. Navigation, communication and safety equipment all need to be up to the MCA standard and above. If all is found to be in order then a code disc is issued which is clearly displayed on the boats.

The equipment we carry as standard includes :-

Suitable , well fitting life jacket for every person on board the yacht.
Suitable navigation equipment. We have the latest GPS electronic systems with repeated
depth sensors backed up by conventional charts and plotters.
Suitable communication equipment including fixed and mobile VHF sets.
Sea survival & distress equipment including coastal flare packs, throw ropes, horseshoe floats, safety lines.
A life raft place for every person on board and a location beacon are also carried.
All equipment has a log of it`s service life and suitability.
The MCA inspectors ensure the yacht is safe, serviced and fit for purpose.

The MCA also apply the same rules to the skipper of your yacht. Ensuring that the skipper has the experience, knowledge, ability to keep you and the yacht safe at all times. Your skipper will hold an endorsed MCA qualification as well as a VHF communication license, first aid and sea survival certificates. Only with this experince, knowledge and training will your skipper gain the coding required to skipper our yachts.
