Solent Historic Boat Charter ToursMaking the most of Southsea Charters excellent RIB "Twilight" we will provide an exciting and exhilarating boat trip around the Western Solent, let our skipper(s) Bjorn (and Mark) guide you through some of the local heritage both above and below the water. Both Bjorn and Mark are professional Maritime Archaeologists and divers so they spend most of their time diving on these wrecks and researching historic sites, so who better to take you back in time 6000 years, from a time when you could walk across the English Channel, to vivid descriptions of shipwrecks under water around the Needles and the stories behind them. Followed by the history of the local Forts including the infamous Hurst Castle and it's colourfull and richly royal past, on to the remains of the Lymington Salterns, a local historic industry with an interesting past before returning to Lymington where we can return you to the Yacht Haven or drop you off at the Town Quay, where you can enjoy the local town. It's the closest we can take you to 16th Century wrecks, daring shipwreck rescues to ships that sank returning with news to over throw Napoleon, without taking you diving. Heritage Tours can also be provided on any of the other vessels on request. The bigger hard boats offer a more stable environment with easier access for those more interested in a slower paced more comfortable ride. Level access is also available on Southsea Charters motor yacht "Prestige 36" or "Marna". |
